Our Story

Samaa & Shane

Samaa and Shane

Samaa and Shane first crossed paths in 2014, just before starting their studies at Trinity College Dublin. Their very first interaction was online — Shane had commented on a post suggesting someone should create a Facebook group for first-year students living at Trinity Halls. Samaa replied, letting him know that the group already existed (of course it did!) and helpfully shared the link. That small comment sparked a conversation, and from there, a friendship was born.

A year later, in December 2015, that friendship quietly turned into something more. One evening, while a group of their friends were staying at Sinead O’Connor’s mansion in Bray (yes, really), Shane disappeared for a couple of hours. When he finally called Samaa to his room, she found him sitting with a bunch of hand-crafted paper roses he had made himself. There, just past midnight, he asked her to be his girlfriend. Samaa’s first response? “Why did you have to do this on the 13th… it’s an unlucky number.” But as it turns out, it was the luckiest moment of all.

Fast forward five years, and the two had moved across the world to Canberra to chase their next adventure — and maybe a bit more sunshine. Somewhere along the way, Samaa became fascinated (read: obsessed) with bioluminescence — from glow worms in Helensburgh, to “ghosties” (mushrooms), to the magical blue tide at Jervis Bay, and eventually the southern lights. Shane was dragged along on every glowing escapade.

Then, on the 10th of May 2024, Shane told Samaa to pack an overnight bag — a strong solar storm was coming, and they had a flight to catch. The next evening, under a sky lit up by the Aurora Australis in Hobart, he got down on one knee and asked her to spend forever with him.

Now, after a decade of love, laughter, (and countless bioluminescent detours), Samaa and Shane are finally getting married — and they can’t wait to celebrate with all the people who have been part of their journey.

Nyela & Jai

Nyela and Jai

Nyela and Jai first met when they were both 20. Their paths crossed at a mutual friend’s gathering, and while Jai was instantly drawn to her energy, Nyela thought he was simply being polite.

Jai, however, was determined. Over the next year, he won her over with patience and quiet persistence — gently nudging his way out of the friend zone while Nyela was blissfully unaware she was being wooed.

Eventually, Jai won her heart, and on the 17th of October 2011, their journey began!

Since then, they’ve survived more than 2 years of long-distance, explored new places together, shared endless laughs, learnt so much, and continued to choose each other every step of the way.

Then, on the 19th of November 2022, Jai got down on one knee and popped the big question. This time, Nyela didn’t hesitate to say yes!

Now, after 14 years of building a life together, they’re getting married — and couldn’t be more excited to celebrate with you all.

For the ladies: Sarees, lehengas, anarkalis, shararas, ghararas, and dresses all work beautifully.
